Stunning Wellness and Laser

If you’ve decided to get a Botox treatment for the first time, you may feel excited and nervous about the procedure. You’re probably looking forward to a refreshed and youthful appearance and a boost to your confidence.

You may also be wondering about how the procedure is performed and if there’s anything you should do to prepare to help ensure the best possible results.

Here’s what you need to know to get ready for your first Botox treatment.

Before your Botox treatment

A Botox treatment is just like any other medical treatment in that you will first fill out some paperwork and have a short discussion with your doctor.

During this talk, it’s important to let your medical spa know about any health issues you may have or medications you may be taking (this includes muscle relaxants, sleeping aids, allergy medicines, etc.) since they could impact the treatment. For example, if you take blood thinners, you need to stop taking them for a day or two before getting Botox injections.

During your Botox treatment

A typical Botox treatment doesn’t require any numbing or anaesthesia, but sometimes a cold compress is applied if a particularly sensitive area is being treated.

You will be asked to relax and contract the muscles in your face a few times, and then the medical spa team will administer the injections. The procedure is usually very quick and simple.

When it’s done, you’ll be asked to rest for about ten minutes. After that, you can carry on with your day.

After your Botox treatment

You don’t need to schedule any additional time for rest and recovery, however you should avoid strenuous exercise for a few days after receiving Botox injections. You may have some slight bruising and swelling at the injection sites.

Limiting your sun exposure is always a good idea, but it’s particularly important after Botox. Wear a high SPF sunscreen and a hat with a wide brim to protect your skin.
